santa baby

We enjoyed Christmas at home with our little santa baby and Drew’s family who flew in to help celebrate Harper’s first Christmas. Maeby enjoyed the company, but Margot hid under our bed the whole time.

To celebrate turning 3 months old, Harper wore jeans for the first time! Aren’t baby jeans the cutest?

We ate quite well when everyone was here – a nice change to the ham sandwiches I’ve been living on. We had brisket and empanadas and then a turkey dinner.

Harper loved being held by everyone and hanging out. She had lots of presents under the tree and we took turns opening them for her. Lots of books, toys and clothes!

On Christmas Eve, we watched Christmas Vacation like we do every year. Drew gave his siblings moose mugs just like they drink from in the movie.

I made sure to get plenty of family pictures while I had people here to take them! (Harper’s face in this one cracks me up.)

Thank you to our family for coming to Austin for Christmas, cooking for us and spoiling our little girl! She is lucky to have such a loving family!

Harper’s PSA to all the kids out there. Read books! 😉

3 months old

It’s a good thing the world didn’t end, because this little girl turned 3 months old! Harper is holding her head up and steady much better in the last few days and paying more attention to her hands and toys. She likes to sit upright on our laps or be held up to look around the room. She likes looking in the mirror and watching the ceiling fan. I have a feeling she’ll be rolling over very soon. She’s such a good baby – a very happy girl and great sleeper. She loves to read books and is starting to reach out to help turn the page (not consistently, just coincidentally.) She certainly loves her momma. She’s officially no longer a newborn and is now a full-fledged infant! And I’m not sure she can get any cuter!

someone’s ready for santa

She can’t wait for Santa Claus to visit – she’s been a good girl even if just for a quarter of a year!

12 weeks already?

My little baby is 12 weeks old, which means it’s time for me to return to work. Nooooo! Has it really been 12 weeks already? Weeks go by so fast now – I feel like we just brought her home.

We are looking forward to Harper’s first Christmas. We’ve got the tree up and family will be coming to see us. The cats, as expected, have been enjoying wrestling under the tree, but (knock on wood) no broken ornaments yet.

Maeby sleeping

Harper is spending more time awake and happy. She’s spending less time fussing in the evenings and more time just chilling on our laps. She loves baths…until it’s time to get out.

She also likes to suck on the palm of her hand while she plays with her hair with the other hand – silly girl.

Harper

She’s been sleeping through the night for the past month – from about 10pm to 5:30am. She’s getting good at putting herself to sleep if you lay her down when she’s drowsy. Yes, we thank our lucky stars!

Her favorite place to sleep is still in mommy or daddy’s arms – which is our favorite thing too. She likes it best when you hold her hand too.

Harper

She likes to repeat “goo goo” back and forth with us. You can tell she’s really trying to laugh – she’ll force out a little cough when she’s excited. And she loves to look at herself in the mirror – that’s our go-to activity when she’s fussy and it calms her right down.

Sometimes I’ll catch her smiling really big at the Christmas tree. And the other day I had “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on and she actually watched it and got really animated! I think that may become a Christmas tradition!
