and then there were three…

I figured y’all would want to read about something other than my cats – so I thought I’d change it up a bit. You know those cute little squirmy things that take 9 months to make? I’m having myself one of those! The stork will drop it at our doorstep around September 28th!

We're having a baby!

Drew and I are thrilled to be adding a little one to our family! We’ve been busy reading up on all the happenings.

Preparing for baby...

We’re also happy to finally make our parents on both sides grandparents for the first time. We’re looking forward to all the fun ahead!

A few weeks ago, we decided to head down to Zilker Park to check out the kite festival. We knew it would draw a crowd, but we underestimated the traffic. We were going to take the free shuttle bus, but the line to get on the bus was a block long. So we figured we’d drive towards the park to get as close as we could and walk the rest of the way. After sitting in the car for probably 45 minutes, I decided to get out and walk and Drew was going to hang back and get a parking spot.

I decided not to stay long, just wanted to grab a few shots and check it out. We’ll go back some other year when we can get there early and stay for a picnic to really get the most out of it.

It was a beautiful day for kite flying!

when she’s not sleeping

She’s sitting at this window.  All the time.  Watching the birds.

As spring has sprung, there have been a lot of birds fluttering around. The girls’ new favorite thing to do is spend hours sitting in the window sills and chattering at them. Even better, when we have the windows open, they love the fresh air and listening to the birds.

Then at night, Margot likes to sit in the window sill and bat at the moon. She’s a black cat. It’s her calling.

lounging

Maeby demonstrates how to properly lounge in her scratch lounge. Of all the fluffy soft places to sleep in the house, we most often find her snoozing in this cardboard box.

maeby get down!

We have basically one rule for the cats: no jumping on the countertops or kitchen table. They don’t seem to obey this rule as it’s pretty hard to enforce when we’re gone all day. And I come home to find little paw prints on the stove. Maeby is usually the culprit. They like looking out the windows and chattering at the birds. Usually if we just approach them they get down.

So can you spot what is wrong with this picture?

Maeby

That day, Maeby decided to be a little more rebellious and not jump down when I approached her.

“What? I’m not doing anything wrong am I?”

Maeby

Ok, so maybe I’ll try yelling and swatting at her. Surely, that will get her down.

Nope. She ain’t scared of nobody. Stubborn-headed ninny muggins.
